    Review

    Library Journal November 15, 2011

MVP Books has been producing these illustrated histories of NFL teams for the past few years and is now about one-third of the way through the league’s 32 clubs. Most of this volume’s action photos and reproductions of football cards and other memorabilia are in color and attractively laid out. Veteran sportswriter Cannizzaro (New York Post) tells the history of the team through its coaches—from Sammy Baugh of the 1960 New York Titans to Rex Ryan of today’s media savvy Jets. While the Jets have won only one Super Bowl in their 51 years, they have had a colorful heritage, particularly capturing the imagination of football fans in the 1960s because of flashy quarterback Joe Namath and today owing to flamboyant head coach Ryan. The text is augmented by sidebars on notable players like Namath, Curtis Martin, and Darrelle Revis as well as on significant moments in team history like when NBC left a game to air Heidi in 1968, Super Bowl III, and the weird departure of coach Bill Parcells. An appendix lists the basic team records, and there is a foreword by Namath. VERDICT This well-executed team history will be of interest to all football fans.—John Maxymuk, Rutgers Univ. 2. A rock & roll band from the Netherlands
    3. A rock band from the United States

    1. The Jets are a family band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, composed of brothers and sisters who specialize in pop, R&B, and dance music, particularly Latin freestyle.

The group officially formed in 1985, with the original lineup fizzling out by 1990. Several members of the family stayed on throughout the 1990s, unofficially reviving the group in the mid to late 1990s as a gospel outfit with most of the original members present.

Various record companies have released collections of songs from the group's popular period, while the modern incarnation of the group continues to perform at various small venues, primarily casinos and private corporate functions.

    2. The Jets formed in Utrecht, Netherlands in 1958 as The Rocking Explosives and debuted on stage in 1960. Their instrumental guitarmusic sounded similar to The Shadows. They renamed the band to The Jets in 1963. The group had a big hit in Japan with an instrumental version of 'Goldfinger' under the name The Goldfingers (due to another band in Japan called The Jets). In 1966 The Jets were aiming for succes in England and recorded the s
